Minutes of REGULAR MEETING The Board of Education Wausau School District A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of the Wausau School District was held Monday, October 13, 2025, beginning at 5:00 PM in the Wausau East High School Auditorium, 2607 N. 18th Street, Wausau, WI 54403. Present: Bouche; Brock; Burger, Creisher arrived at 5:02 pm; Crochiere; McKee; Sillars; Trollop. Absent: Paoli; I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm. II. ROLL CALL III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE IV. READING OF THE MISSION STATEMENT V. INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY PROCLAMATION President Bouche read the Indigenous Peoples Day Proclamation. VI. EXCELLENCE IN ACTION: Wausau East High School A brief presentation was shared. VII. EXCELLENCE IN ACTION: Franklin Elementary A brief presentation was shared. VIII. PUBLIC AND STUDENT COMMENT There was none. IX. APPROVE CONSENT AGENDA The Consent Agenda was approved inclusive of Appointments, Separations, Leaves of Absence, Retirements, Minutes, Payment of Bills/Budget Status and Investment Report, and Donations to the District. X. The Wausau School Board will be conducting interviews with qualified elector(s) of the Wausau School District to fill a vacancy to the Wausau School Board. This vacancy is for an unexpired term and will be for a term commencing on October 13, 2025, and running through April 26, 2026. A. Cody Nikolai – Withdrew his candidacy. B. Charles Burger – made brief comments and had comments made on his behalf. C. Michelle Gleason – made brief comments and had comments made on her behalf. D. John Huntington – made brief comments. XI. The Board of Education may entertain a motion to convene in closed session, pursuant to s. 19.85(1)(f). Following the closed session, the Board may entertain a motion to reconvene into open session and may take further action if necessary/and or appropriate. The Board did not go into closed session. XII. Discussion and potential action to appoint a qualified elector of the Wausau School District to fill a vacancy to the Wausau School Board. The vacancy is for an unexpired term and will be for a term commencing on October 13, 2025, and running through April 26, 2026. Board members voted via written ballot. Superintendent Bushman and Ms. Peck tallied the votes and Charles Burger was announced as the winner. XIII. Swear in New Board Member Ms. Peck swore in Charles Burger and Mr. Burger took his seat. XIV. OLD/RECURRING BUSINESS A. Consolidation Update A brief presentation was shared. B. Building Sale Update Josh Viegut provided an update on the sale of Hawthorn Hills, Hewitt Texas, and Grant elementary schools. C. Education/Operations Committee Meeting There was none. XV. NEW BUSINESS A. Education/Operations Committee Meeting 1. Primary Care Clinic Sillars approved to enter into a contract for a Direct Primary Care clinic with Anovia, seconded by Brock. The motion carried 7-0-1 with Trollop abstaining. 2. District ACP Plan Trollop moved to approve of the Wausau School District 2025-26 Education for Employment (E4E) and Academic Career Plan (ACP), seconded by Sillars. The motion carried 8-0. XVI. OPEN FORUM A. Board Member Professional Growth & Development Report There was none. B. Legislative Liaison Brief comments were made. C. Superintendent Commentary Brief comments were made. D. Presiding Officer Commentary The Board Liaison report was entered into the minutes. XVII. ADJOURN The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
