NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Chenango, Broome County, New York will hold a public hearing on December 10, 2025 at the Town Hall, 1529 State Rt 12, Binghamton, NY 13901, to consider the adoption of a local law entitled "A LOCAL LAW EFFECTING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM WITHIN THE TOWN OF CHENANGO ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION OF SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS." The hearing will start at 6 p.m. People speaking will be limited to three minutes. The proposed local law would prohibit permits, zoning permits, special use permits, special permits, zoning variances, building permits, site plan approvals, subdivision approvals, and any other Town-level approvals for the construction, establishment, use or operation within the Town of solar energy systems, solar energy equipment, and solar energy activities (with exceptions for roof-mounted systems and building-integrated systems as accessory uses for legally permitted residential and commercial properties) for twelve months while the Town of Chenango undertakes an update to its comprehensive plan and considers possible amendments to its laws regarding the temporarily prohibited activities. Communications in writing regarding the local law may be addressed to the Town Board at the Town Hall (1529 State Rt. 12, Binghamton, NY 13901) prior to the hearing date or at the public hearing itself.
