Notice of Election
TOWN OF FURMAN
Notice is hereby given that the Special Election for (1) council member will be held in the Town of Furman on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Early Voting will be Monday October 13,2025 until Friday October 24,2025. Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm daily at the County Voter Registration office.
Further notice is hereby given that the process for filing for named office by interested individuals must do so by filing a petition with (10) signatures from Furman town registered voters and completing an Electronic Statement of Interest form.
The town of Furman filing period shall be open on Thursday September 15, 2025 at 12 pm and will close at 12pm on Wednesday September 24,2025. The town hall will be open for filing on September 4 from 9am to 2pm and on September 24,2025 from 9 am to 12pm. Any candidate wishing to file between those dates may contact Mayor Nettie Williams at 843-384-3866 or Clerk Rachael Prince at 803-679-3583 to set an appointment. Petitions will be available for pickup starting at the town hall by appointment and the post office anytime. There is not filing fee.
Any person wishing to register to vote in the said election must do so by choosing one of the following options: online by September 28,2025, in person by September 26,2025, or by mail September 29th. Voters who are unable to go to the polls and wish to vote may request an absentee ballot from the Hampton County Board of Elections and Voter Registration by calling 803-914-2080 or going into the office at 201 Jackson Ave West Hampton SC 29924. Absentee ballots will be opened and processed by the Hampton County Board of Elections and Voter Registration office at 6 pm on October 28,2025 in conference room A/B. A Furman election commissioner will be in attendance and will collect ballots and results tape at close of polls at 7pm. This serves as an official notice to all candidates to be in attendance if you so desire to monitor the process.
The town of Furman polling location is located at the Furman Town Hall at 46 McKenzie Trail Furman SC 29921.The polls shall open to all voters promptly at 7 am and close promptly at 7pm.
On Thursday, October 30th at 11 am, The Town Board of Canvassers (commissioners) will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all challenged ballots at the Furman Town Hall.
If necessary, a runoff election will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday November 11, 2025.
