LEGAL NOTICE
The following are summaries of ordinances adopted by Canton City Council on Sept. 22, 2025. The complete text of the ordinances may be obtained for 10 cents per page or viewed free at the office of the Clerk of Council in City Hall, 218 Cleve. Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44702, during non-holiday weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ordinance No. 174/2025
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into an easement agreement with American Electric Power for electric service to the Timken Gate House. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 175/2025
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into an amendment to the Cooperative Economic Development Agreement with Jackson Twp. to reflect and ratify the Shared Development Agreement between Jackson Twp. and the city of North Canton with terms stating that it is only for the annexation area depicted in Ex. A of the Agreement and that no further annexations will be permitted without the written consent of the city of Canton. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 176/2025
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into all contracts listed on Ex. A of the ordinance utilizing opioid settlement funds. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 177/2025
The Mayor or Safety Director is authorized to enter into any contracts necessary with Bertolini Trucking in an amount not to exceed $54,000 to respond to the 2208 Dover Ave. NE demolition. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 178/2025
The Clerk of Council, pursuant to Chapter 947 of the Codified Ordinances and Chapters 701 and 743 of the Ohio Revised Code, is authorized to certify the list of unpaid and delinquent charges for board ups/clean ups/demolition services performed on behalf of the Building and Code Dept. attached as Ex. A of the ordinance, to the Stark County Auditor, to be entered upon the tax duplicate to be liens upon such lands from the date of entry and to be collected as other taxes and assessments. The Clerk of Council is authorized to delete any property owners’ names or adjust the dollar amounts owed, if applicable, prior to certification to the County Auditor provided that the Service Director, Safety Director or their designee provides documentation to do so. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 179/2025
The Mayor or Service Director, or their designee, is authorized to accept easements granted to the city of Canton, for the ownership, operation and maintenance of a sanitary sewer crossing at Greentree Ave. SW near the proposed Redwood Canton Greentree Development and to make ministerial changes to correct property owner names, parcel numbers and other numerical descriptive or typographical errors, should they occur. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 180/2025
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into contract with the Ohio Dept. of Transportation State Infrastructure Loan Bank for a $10,510,000 loan, including fees, for the W. Tuscarawas Corridor Safety Project, Phase 1, G.P. 1165. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 181/2025
Council authorizes and approves the construction of a water main extension, consisting of approximately 15,800 feet of pipe and related appurtenances to the Addison Lake Residential Development to service 198 homes in Lake Twp., located approximately 6.4 miles outside the city of Canton corporate limits. The costs of construction and installation shall be paid by the property owner. The Canton Water Dept. shall inspect the construction and ensure compliance with applicable codes. The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into any agreements necessary, including easements, to effectuate the water main extension. Adopted as an emergency.
Ordinance No. 182/2025
The Mayor or Service Director is authorized to enter into Change Order No. 3 with Mike Coates Construction Company, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $51,811.70 for the Water Service Shop Renovation Project. The Auditor is authorized to pay all moral obligations related to said change order. Adopted as an emergency.
The foregoing summaries of ordinances adopted by Council on Sept. 22, 2025, were prepared and approved by the Law Director to ensure legal accuracy and sufficiency per the requirements of the Ohio Revised Code.
