NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS IN COMMISSION DISTRICT
OF COLUMBIA COUNTY, GEORGIA
You are hereby notified that on the 4th day of November, 2025, a special election will be held in District 2 of Columbia County, Georgia for the purpose of filling the vacancy in the position of County Commissioner for District 2 of Columbia County, Georgia, which vacancy resulted from County Commissioner James Trey Allen, III resigning his position as County Commissioner for District 2 of Columbia County, Georgia effective August 13, 2025. This election will be a non-partisan election.
Anyone desiring to be a candidate in this special election must file a notice of candidacy not earlier than Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 9:00AM and not later than Friday, August 29, 2025, at 12:00PM (noon). Anyone wishing to qualify as a candidate for the unexpired term as the County Commissioner for District 2 of Columbia County, Georgia may do so at the office of the Columbia County Board of Elections, 610 Ronald Reagan Drive, Building G3, Evans, Georgia. The qualifying fee will be $195.00.
The last day to register to vote in this election shall be Monday, October 6, 2025, at 5:00PM.
The several places for holding said election in District 2 of Columbia County shall be at voting precincts: 015~Lewis Methodist Church; 016~Woodlawn Baptist Church; 018~New Life Church-Grovetown; 032~Greater Augusta Apostolic Church; 065~Christ’s Sanctified Church; 075~Belair Baptist Church; 076~Westminster Presbyterian Church; 085~Trinity Baptist Church; 090~Abilene Baptist Church; and 125~Church of Our Savior. At said locations, the polls will be open from 7:00AM to 7:00PM on November 4, 2025. In addition, absentee ballots may be obtained from the office of the Board of Elections of Columbia County, Georgia beginning Tuesday, October 14, 2025 through Friday, October 31, 2025, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Early voting will take place Tuesday, October 14, 2025 through Friday, October 31, 2025, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, at building G3 in Evans and at the Former Euchee Creek Library in Grovetown. Saturday Voting will take place on October 18th and 25th, 2025 9:00AM. to 5:00PM at building G3 in Evans and at the Former Euchee Creek Library in Grovetown.
Those qualified to vote in said election shall be determined in all respects in accordance and in conformity with the laws of the State of Georgia. December 2, 2025, will be the Runoff Election date, if needed.
This notice is given pursuant to action of the Columbia County Board of Elections, after being notified of the vacancy in the position of County Commissioner for District 2 of Columbia County, Georgia, by the Board of Commissioners of Columbia County.
