CLAIR COUNTY, MICHIGAN. TAKE NOTICE, that pursuant to the provisions of Act 188 of the Public Acts of 1954, as amended, petitions have been filed with this Board by the record owners of land constituting more than 51% of the total canal front footage in a proposed Special Assessment District comprised of the above-described properties requesting that this Board proceed with said improvement described as follows: CANALS BETWEEN M-29 AND ST. CLAIR RIVER AQUATIC MANAGEMENT OF THE CANALS SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, the Supervisor and Assessing Officer of East China Charter Township have caused a Special Assessment Roll to be prepared to determine individual costs of the improvement, said Special Assessment Roll being on file with the Township Clerk’s Office and available for public inspection, and TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, the total assessment shall be as follows: Total Cost to be $65,000.00, to be spread over a five (5) year period. Cost of $4.82 per foot, yearly cost of approximately $0.96 per foot of canal frontage. This dollar amount will be placed on the December tax bill without interest. PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing to review this roll shall be held in the East China Charter Township Hall, 5111 River Road, East China Township, Michigan, on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., to make any necessary corrections thereto and the Clerk is instructed to give proper notice in accordance with the law and statue provided. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that Notice is hereby given that appearance and protest at this hearing is required in order to appeal the amount of the Special Assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal if an appeal should be desired. A property owner or party in interest, or his or her agent may file his or her appearance by letter to the Township Clerk by 4:00 p.m., on Monday, November 3, 2025, and his or her personal appearance shall not be required. The protestor to the proposed assessment may file a written appeal with the Michigan Tax Tribunal within thirty-five (35) days after confirmation of a Special Assessment Roll if the assessment was protested at the hearing.
