LEGAL NOTICE OF ELECTION TO SELECT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF TULSA TECHNOLOGY CENTER SCHOOL
DISTRICT NO. 18, D/B/A TULSA TECHNOLOGY CENTER,
FROM BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7
(Must be published in a legal newspaper in all counties in which TTC is located (Tulsa, Pawnee, Rogers, Okmulgee, Washington, Creek, Wagoner, and Osage) prior to November 14, 2025, and posted at the school district administrative offices and the county election board offices in all counties prior to that date.)
Date of the Election:
A General Election shall be held on the first Tuesday in April 7, 2026, to select a member of the board of education for Tulsa Technology Center School District No. 18 to represent BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7 (Zone 7). If three or more candidates file for the same Board of Education position, a Primary Election shall be held on February 10, 2026. If, in the Primary Election, one candidate in a Board District receives more than fifty percent (50%) of the votes cast, that candidate is elected and a run-off election is not required. If no candidate receives more than fifty percent (50%) of the votes cast in the Primary Election, a run-off election shall be held on the first Tuesday in April, April 7, 2026, between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes in that Board District. The polling places shall be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Board Member Position on Ballot:
The voters of BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7 (Zone 7) shall elect a board member for BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7 (Zone 7), which has a seven (7) year term of office.
Qualifications of Candidates for Office:
To be eligible to be a candidate, a person must have been: (i) a registered voter registered with the County Election Board at an address located within the geographical boundaries of the Board District for which the person files a Declaration of Candidacy for six (6) months preceding the first day of the filing period (DECEMBER 1, 2025); and (ii) must have resided in the Board District for which the person files a Declaration of Candidacy for at least six (6) months preceding the first day of the filing period (DECEMBER 1, 2025).
No person shall be eligible to be a candidate for or elected to be a member of the board of education of a school district unless the person has been awarded a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency.
A candidate may not be related to an employee of Tulsa Technology Center School District No. 18, d/b/a Tulsa Technology Center, or to a Member of the Board of Education of said School District within the second degree by blood or marriage. The following are relatives within the second degree: a candidate's spouse, child, parent, grandchild, grandparent, brother, sister, spouse's child, spouse's grandchild, spouse's brother, spouse's sister, spouse's grandparent, grandchild's spouse, parent's spouse, and child's spouse.
A candidate cannot have been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty or no contest to, a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony and it presently be within fifteen (15) years of the completion of the sentence or during the pendency of an appeal of such conviction or plea.
If the candidate is not an incumbent member of the Board of Education, the candidate must agree and pledge in writing when the candidate files the candidate's Notification and Declaration of Candidacy that the candidate will complete at least twelve (12) hours of instruction, within fifteen (15) months of election, on educational issues in the following areas: school finance, legal issues, which include but are not limited to employment, due process, new laws, the Oklahoma Open Records Act and the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act; and duties and responsibilities, which include but are not limited to special education and ethics, of district board of education members. Each elector shall agree and pledge in writing to complete at least one (1) hour of instruction in school finance, one (1) hour of instruction in the Oklahoma Open Records Act and the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act and one (1) hour of instruction in ethics. The remaining hours may be satisfied by attending a two-day workshop to be held within the state by the State Department of Education, by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, or by attending workshops, seminars or classes which address the above-mentioned subject matter, and which are sponsored by the any organization approved by the State Board of Education, including but not limited to institutions of higher education.
If the candidate is an incumbent member of the Board of Education, in his or her Notification and Declaration of Candidacy, the candidate must agree and pledge in writing that upon reelection the candidate will complete six (6) hours of instruction, within fifteen (15) months of election, including one (1) hour of instruction in school finance, one (1) hour of instruction in the Oklahoma Open Records Act and the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, and one (1) hour of instruction in ethics. The remaining hours may be satisfied by attending workshops, seminars or classes addressing educational issues approved for credit by the Oklahoma State Board of Education. If a member has not satisfied the above instructional requirements within fifteen (15) months of his or her election, the local board of education shall declare the seat of such member vacant and fill the vacancy according to law.
The candidate elected to the board must also complete an additional fifteen (15) hours of continuing education prior to the date set for filing for reelection to the member's respective board seat. If the candidate has served a full term of office as a member of the Board of Education and if the candidate has failed to attend the required hours of continuing education courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and conventions within this state which satisfy the continuing education requirement and which are approved jointly by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the State Board of Career and Technology Education, the candidate is ineligible to run for reelection to the Board of Education to that respective board seat on Board of Education or to run for election to any other board seat on the Board of Education for two (2) years.
Voters Eligible to Vote:
To be eligible to vote in the election for BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7 (Zone 7) a voter must be registered with the county election board at an address within the geographical boundaries of BOARD DISTRICT NO. 7 (ZONE 7).
