PUBLIC NOTICE   Pursuant to the “Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act” and the “Clean Streams Law” notice is hereby given that Mountaineer Mining Corporation, 1010 Garrett Shortcut Road, Berlin, PA 15530 has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to revise existing surface coal mine permit SMP #56220102/NPDES #PA0279871 to include an additional 8.3 acres of mining area within the existing permit boundary in Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County. A revised NPDES permit will be needed to include an additional discharge point. The receiving stream for this proposed permit area is Unnamed Tributaries to Buffalo Creek a cold water fishery. The Berlin, Pa., U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute topographic map contains the area described. A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the DEP - Cambria Office, Bureau of District Mining Operations, 286 Industrial Park Road, Ebensburg, PA 15931. Written comments, objections, or a request for public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the DEP - Cambria Office, Bureau of District Mining Operations, 286 Industrial Park Road, Ebensburg, PA 15931-4119 no later than 30 days following the fourth and final publication of this notice and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
