PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
Amend the Town Code for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU)
Per MGL, c. 40A, Section 5, the Planning Board of the Town of Southborough shall hold a public hearing on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 6:35 PM, in the McAuliffe Hearing Room, 17 Common St. Southborough, MA, and via Zoom, to consider amending the Town Code Sections 174-8.2, 174-8.4, 174-8.5, 174-8.7, 174-8.8, 174-8.12, 174-13.8, and to remove Section 174-9 (B) to update language on Accessory Dwelling Units and update any references to these sections as applicable.
This hearing concerns the proposed language updates relating to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) to allow ADUs that exceed the state’s as-of-right thresholds up to 1200 square feet, provided the ADU does not exceed the size of the principal dwelling, and to remove the existing size cap for a special permit under adaptive reuse of historic buildings, and removes the language for special permits for ADUs in its entirety.
