PUBLIC NOTICE Public Housing Waitlist Opening The City of Chandler Housing and Redevelopment Division is pleased to announce the opening of the Public Housing Program waiting list for three-bedroom, four-bedroom, and five-bedroom family sizes only. The Public Housing Program is a project-based housing program funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide low-income individuals and families with affordable housing. Pre-applications for the Public Housing Program will be accepted beginning 12:00 p.m. (MST) Friday, March 27, 2026, through 12:00 p.m. (MST) Friday, April 10, 2026. From the pool of all pre-applications submitted, 350 pre applications will be placed on the waitlist by random selection (“lottery”). Pre-applications not selected will be notified by mail and will have to reapply for assistance when applications are open again. Who can apply: All families and individuals. What is pre-application? A “pre-application” is a short application that gets you on the waitlist for Public Housing. You will only be asked to fill out a full “application” for Public Housing when you get near the top of the waitlist in the future. Preferences in order: (1) Displaced due to government action or natural disaster; (2) Living in Chandler; (3) Working in Chandler; (4) Chronically Homeless as defined by HUD; (5) Currently Employed/Employment Program; (6) Adult Full-Time Student; (7) Elderly families where head of household or spouse is 62+ years of age; (8) Disabled.
