NOTICE OF MEETING
THE CONSTRUCTION BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS & APPEALS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Construction Board of Adjustments & Appeals of St. Johns County, FL, will hold a meeting on MONDAY, April 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in The Permit Center, Second Floor Conference Room, 4040 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
The following cases will go before the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals: Building Abatement Case # 26-02: 3551 Begonia Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084, Legal Description: 4-36 ALCAZAR GARDENS BLK 4 LOTS 19 & 20 OR1998/1393; Building Abatement Case # 26-03: 290 Knowlton Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084, Legal Description: 1-77 CLARK ADDN LOT 4 BLK 29, which violates Ordinance 2000-48, the Unsafe Building Abatement Code, by definition in Chapter 2, Section 202, which states “Unsafe Building” – any building, structure, or portion thereof that endangers the life, health, property or safety of its occupants or the general public including, but not limited to, the following conditions: 1. Damaged by fire, flood, earthquake, wind, or other cause to the extent that the structural integrity of the building, structure, or portion thereof is less than it was prior to the damage and is less than the minimum requirement established by the adopted construction codes for new buildings; 2. The building, structure, or portion thereof as a result of decay, deterioration, or dilapidation is likely to fully or partially collapse; 3. Any building, structure, or portion thereof that is in such a condition as to constitute a public nuisance; 4. Any building, structure, or portion thereof that is unsafe, unsanitary, or not provided with adequate egress, or which constitutes a fire hazard, or is otherwise dangerous to human life, or, which in relation to existing use, constitutes a hazard to safety or health by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, obsolescence or abandonment.” It is anticipated that one (1) or more St. Johns County Commissioners may attend and participate in the meeting.
If a person decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at the meeting, they will need a record of the proceedings and, for such purpose, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
