LEGAL NOTICE FOR BRIDGE RELOCATION OPPORTUNITY
STATE HIGHWAY 42 STEEL TRUSS BRIDGE OVER THE BOGUE HOMA CREEK
PERRY COUNTY
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is offering the State Highway 42 Bridge No. 76.2 Steel Truss Bridge over the Bogue Homa Creek in Perry County to the public for relocation, preservation, and maintenance. Built in 1942, will soon be replaced and must be removed in compliance with Federal regulations. The Steel Truss bridge has been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Relocation of the bridge approach section is not mandatory.
Individuals or organizations are invited to submit proposals for the relocation and preservation of the bridge. Submissions will be reviewed by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, the Federal Highway Administration, and MDOT. Proposals must include detailed plans for the removal, transport, installment, and perpetual preservation of the bridge. The proposal must also demonstrate the financial capability of executing these plans. If approved, MDOT will reimburse the recipient for relocation costs up to the estimated amount of demolition, as determined by the agency. The transfer deed will include covenants requiring the new owner to maintain the structure in accordance with U.S. Secretary of the Interior standards. The new owner assumes all legal and financial responsibilities for the structure upon transfer.
