NOTICE OF DECISION
On May 14, 2026, the City of Elizabeth Zoning Board of Adjustment (the "Zoning Board") adopted a Resolution granting applicant, Elking, LLC (the "Applicant"), Final Site Plan Approval, (d)(1) Use Variance relief, Bulk "c" Variance relief, and Design Waiver relief for the property located at 301 South Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey, further identified as Block 551, Lot 16 on the Tax Map of the City of Elizabeth (the "Property").
The Zoning Board approved the conversion and renovation of the current convent located on the Property into a Childcare Center. The Property is located in the R-2 Zone, and the Child Care Center was not permitted, requiring a (d)(1) Variance. Preliminary Site Plan approval, use variance, bulk 'c' variances, and design waiver relief was granted November 13, 2025 and memorialized on January 8, 2026.
A copy of the Resolution and Application will be available for public inspection on the City of Elizabeth's website at www.elizabethnj.org or may be inspected at the Office of the Bureau of Construction and Zoning, Division of Zoning and Land Use, 50 Winfield Scott Plaza, Elizabeth, New Jersey, during that Office's normal business hours.
