NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2018 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MADRID, IOWA Notice Is Hereby Given: That at 6:00 o'clock p.m., at the City Hall Council Chambers, 304 S. Water Street, Madrid, Iowa, on June 15, 2026, the City Council of the City of Madrid, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on an ordinance amending the 2018 Code of Ordinances of the City of Madrid, Iowa. The proposed ordinance will amend Title VI, Physical Environment, Chapter 10, Building Code by amending Section 6-10-26 R405.3 Sump Pumps to include the following: No footing drain, stormwater drain, sump pump outlet, or drainage tile shall discharge directly into a City street curb, onto neighboring property, or into the public right-of-way. All such discharges shall be contained entirely within the contributing property. Any discharge reaching a City street curb, neighboring property, or the public right-of-way shall constitute a violation of this chapter. The Council may provide by resolution such further rules as necessary to clarify and implement the requirements of this chapter. Violations: A violation of this chapter, or the omission or failure to perform any act or duty required to comply with this chapter, is a municipal infraction and punishable by civil penalty, all as set forth in Chapter 3 of this Code of Ordinances. A copy of the proposed amended ordinance is on file for public inspection in the office of the City Clerk.
