SCHOOL BOARD OF LEE COUNTY, FLORIDA NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT, PROPOSED RULE MAKING, AND PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on June 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., The School Board of Lee County, Florida ("School Board"), will meet in the School Board Meeting Room at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida at the School Board Workshop for the purpose of rules development concerning the revision and adoption of the following: Policy 1430 - Leaves of Absence Policy 1430.01 - FMLA Leave Policy 3430 - Leaves of Absence Policy 3430.01 - FMLA Leave Policy 4430 - Leaves of Absence Policy 4430.01 - FMLA Leave The above policies are being adopted and revised in compliance with changes in related rules, regulations, and statutes; to adopt best practices and to promote transparency and accountability. Thereafter, the School Board will meet on July 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the above referenced location to conduct a Public Hearing to consider adoption of the above-mentioned School Board Rule. Notice of Rule Development is contained herein. The effective date of the items mentioned above is July 22, 2026. A draft of the proposed Rules may be viewed during normal business hours in the Communications Center at the Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida. The Superintendent has determined that there will be no adverse economic impact resulting from the proposed adoption set forth above. It is not expected that the proposed rules will require legislative ratification. Any person wishing to appeal any decision made by the School Board at a meeting or hearing will need a verbatim record of the proceedings. This record must include testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
