Description of Purpose of Proposed Assessment - In 1987, the State legislature authorized the District to levy assessments on parcels of land based on the benefit which each parcel will derive from the District's works and improvements as determined by the proportional stormwater runoff generated by each parcel. On June 14, 1988, the Board of Supervisors of the District established the Benefit Assessment Program pursuant to the District's enabling legislation and has approved assessments in each subsequent year to finance District activities including routine maintenance, facility restoration and the cost of certain state and federally mandated programs such as the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Municipal Stormwater Permit implementation. Any member of the general public wishing to protest individual assessments or to otherwise be heard on the matter of the proposed Benefit Assessment for Fiscal Year 2026-27 may appear at the above public hearing or their comments may be communicated by mail to the Ventura County Watershed Protection District 800, South Victoria Avenue, Ventura CA 93009, or by calling (805) 672-2112. For additional information call (805) 672-2112. Please do not call the Assessor or Tax Collector.
