CHILD FIND PROJECT UNDERWAY   An effort is underway in the Hoke County Schools to identify children and youth ages three through 21 who have disabilities and need special education and other services. The local efforts to identify children and youth are part of a statewide effort to find children who need special help that are not currently receiving this assistance. Project Child Find is also an endeavor to inform parents and/or guardians of these children of the services available from their local school system and community agencies. Project Child Find is looking for children and youth who have been diagnosed or are suspected to have mental, physical, or emotional disabilities and are unable to benefit from the regular school program without assistance. Anyone who knows a child or youth who may have disabilities and is not in school or receiving special assistance may contact Diana Griffith-Small, Coordinator of Exceptional Children’s Program at (910) 875-8009.   PROYECTO "CHILD FIND" EN MARCHA   En las Escuelas del Condado de Hoke se está llevando a cabo una iniciativa para identificar a niños y jóvenes entre 3 y 21 años que tengan alguna discapacidad y necesiten educación especial y otros servicios. Estas iniciativas locales para identificar a niños y jóvenes forman parte de un esfuerzo a nivel estatal destinado a localizar a aquellos niños que necesitan ayuda especial y que actualmente no la están recibiendo. El Proyecto "Child Find" es también una iniciativa cuyo objetivo es informar a los padres y/o tutores de estos niños sobre los servicios disponibles en su sistema escolar local y en las agencias comunitarias. El Proyecto "Child Find" busca a niños y jóvenes que se les haya diagnosticado o se sospeche que tienen discapacidades mentales, físicas o emocionales, y que no puedan beneficiarse del programa escolar convencional sin ayuda.
