WAYNE HIGHLANDS SCHOOL DISTRICT
NOTICE OF INTENT
In accordance with the provisions of Act 511, the Board of Directors of the Wayne Highlands School District hereby gives notice of its intent to adopt the following resolutions at an advertised meeting of the Board of Directors to be held at the Wayne Highlands School District Board Room, 474 Grove Street, Honesdale, Pennsylvania, on or before June 30, 2026.
BE IT RESOLVED: That the Wayne Highlands School District, a School District of the third class, hereby levy and collect an Occupation Tax for general revenue purposes at the rate of 300 mills on each dollar of occupation assessment on all persons eighteen years of age and over residing within the aforesaid District. Occupation assessment as used herein shall mean the valuation made by the Chief Assessor of the County, Borough, Township or School District taxing authorities and shall be subject to the same rebates or penalties and remedies for collection as are applicable thereto. The tax herein levied shall be for one year only, to wit, the year 2026-27. This resolution is enacted under the authority of Act 511, December 31, 1965, and other applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is the judgment of the Board of Directors of the Wayne Highlands School District that this tax must be imposed in order to finance the operation of the Schools of the District.
BE IT RESOLVED: That the Wayne Highlands School District, Wayne County, a School District of the third class, for the fiscal year beginning on the first day of July, 2026, hereby levy and collect a Per Capita Tax of five dollars ($5.00) for general revenue purposes on all persons eighteen years of age and over residing within the aforesaid District. The tax levied shall be collected in the same manner as Per Capita taxes are collected when levied by the County, Borough, Township, or School District taxing authorities and shall be subject to the same rebates or penalties and remedies for collection as are applicable thereto. The tax shall be for the year 2026-27. This Resolution is enacted under the authority of Act 511, December 31, 1965, and other applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The tax levied shall be for one year only, to wit, the year 2026-27. This Resolution is adopted in accordance with Section 679 of the Pennsylvania School Code and amendments thereto. It is the judgment of the Board of Directors of the Wayne Highlands School District that this tax must be imposed in order to finance the operation of the schools of the District.
BE IT RESOLVED: That pursuant to the Local Tax Enabling Act as codified at 53 P.S. 6902 and related sections, the Wayne Highlands School District intends to adopt, at a meeting to be held on or before June 30, 2026, a Resolution enacting a tax of 0.5% on transfers of real property effective July 1, 2026.
Said tax shall be for general revenue purposes and it is estimated that it will generate $670,000 annually. Said tax will be collected by the Wayne County Recorder of Deed as agent for the Wayne Highlands School District Wayne Highlands School District.
