ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS – GYM FLOORS   Birmingham City Schools (“Owner or the “District) will receive sealed bids for the Removal and Installation of Gym floors at Hudson K8, Huffman High School, Ramsay High School and Wenonah High School in the District. Such sealed bids must be submitted to the Purchasing Department, Room 202, 2015 Park Place, North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203 on Thursday, June 25, 2026 until 10:00 a.m. CST at which time and place all bids that are timely received shall be opened and read aloud. No bids will be accepted after the time stated for receipt of bids. Bid documents may be obtained at the Purchasing Department, Room 202, 2015 Park Place, North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203 or the District’s website at www.bhamcityschools.org/Page/332.   A PRE-BID CONFERENCE will be held at Birmingham Board of Education located at 2015 Park Place, North, Birmingham, Alabama 35203, Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CST for the purpose of reviewing the project and answering bidders’ questions. Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference is not required but highly recommended. Information concerning a tour of each site to familiarize the bidder with the general location and condition of each site will be provided at the pre-bid conference and included in the bid document.   Questions regarding the bid process or specifications must be submitted in writing to Edward McMullen, Director of Purchasing at purchasing@bhm.k12.al.us. All questions and responses including request for clarifications will be available on the District’s website at www.bhamcityschools.org/Page/332. Birmingham City Schools has adopted a policy to encourage the participation of MBE/DBE firms to provide equal opportunities in Board sponsored projects.   A cashier’s check or bid bond payable to Birmingham City Schools in an amount not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000.00, must accompany the bidder’s proposal. Performance and Payment Bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the Contract.   Bids must be submitted on bid forms as furnished. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Owner: the bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying the current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the bid is delivered. All times indicated are local times. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of ninety (90) days.
