The EPA Invites Public Comment on the Proposed Cleanup Plan for the Wappinger Creek Superfund Site in Wappinger Falls, New York The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is asking for input on its proposed cleanup plan to address mercury contamination found in the sediment and soil in the upstream portion of the Wappinger Creek Superfund site, located in Wappingers Falls, New York. EPA is taking comments from the public on the proposed cleanup plan for this site from July 23, 2026, to August 21, 2026. EPA will consider comments submitted during the comment period before making a final decision. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to review the plan, attend the public meeting, and comment on the proposed cleanup options. EPA will hold a public meeting on Thursday, July 30, at 6:00 p.m. at the Grinnell Public Library, 2642 E Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
