2025 State Report Card
The School District of Menomonee Falls Exceeded Expectations as a school district on the DPI state report cards. We are pleased with this report because it allows us to review and reflect to support continuous improvement and substantial academic success.
The state's report cards are one of many data points we consistently monitor throughout the year that help guide our decision-making. The results are part of the state's accountability system, measuring last year's data in four significant ways: achievement, closing gaps, growth, and keeping students on track.
The report cards have now measured our students' performance since the fall of 2012. We were pleased to see improvement in the English Language Arts scores on this year's Forward Exam, and we know that continued focus on English Language Arts and Math is imperative. This year, through our continuous improvement process, our instructional teams are working diligently to identify strategies and resources to improve student achievement, particularly in reading.
The 2024-2025 state-issued report card describes performance using up to three years of assessment-based measures. Ben Franklin and Shady Lane, both PreK-2 schools, were rated AR because state testing doesn't begin until grade 3. Report cards for all Wisconsin schools can be found at https://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards.
The report cards are scored in four priority areas:
Student Achievement: Students' performance on state assessments is measured using a points-based proficiency system. The score is a multi-year average of English Language Arts and Mathematics subscores. School Growth: Measures year-to-year progress on statewide tests using a value-added model that seeks to control circumstances beyond educators' influence. Target Group Outcomes: This area examines outcomes for students over three years with the lowest test scores. On-Track to Graduation: This priority area indicates how successfully students progress toward completing their K-12 education. The score combines component scores for measures of student engagement and achievement.
The priority area scores are aggregated into an overall accountability score, from 0 to 100. This score is displayed in a graph in the middle of the left side of the report card. It is important to note that the 0 to 100 accountability score is not a "percent correct" measurement. Based on its score, a school or district receives one of five rating categories, from Significantly Exceeds Expectations to Fails to Meet Expectations and corresponding one to five stars.
