City of Grimes Ordinance 803 Amending Grimes Code of Ordinances, Title 3 Boards and Commissions and Title 11 Building Regulations associated with Chapters 3-6 Board of Appeals, 11-3 Property Maintenance Code, 11-4 Fuel Gas Code, 11-6 Fire Code, 11-8 Residential Building Code, 11-11 Building Code, 11-12 Existing Code and Creation of 11-13 Swimming Pool and Spa Code The City of Grimes is undertaking a comprehensive update of its Building Code, transitioning from the 2021 International Codes to the 2024 editions. Prior to this initiative, the City had already adopted the most current versions of the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical codes. In the course of this update, staff has placed a strong emphasis on minimizing local amendments wherever practicable, with the objective of achieving greater consistency with the model codes.
