Directors met in a regular session from 5:30–7:42pm. Board Chair Norris presiding.
Present: Alonzo, Campos, Dix, Knox, Martorano, Mayberry-Mayes, Norris
The directors approved the following items: 6-0
1. Approval of revised agenda
Knox not present at vote.
The directors held a public forum for speakers attending in person.
The superintendent recognized Shannon Buckroyd from Goodrell Middle School for being named the 2025 Iowa World Language Association Education of the Year.
The directors approved the following consent items: 7-0.

The directors held a public hearing for and approved the following items: 7-0
1. Public Hearing for CIP3171 Cattell Elementary Exterior Restoration
The directors received the following other items:
1. Personnel Recommendation- Receive, File and Take Action. Approved 7-0
2. Naming Request to name the Lincoln High School Student Commons in honor of former Principal Mr. Albert H Graziano. Approved 7-0
3. Superintendent Contract-Recognition
Items of privilege:
Chairs Report: Dix – toured central campus and many of the great programs, it was great to see thousands walk in and get a tour. On October 28th students from Central Campus Culinary Program will be hosting a gourmet dinner. Lastly, he extended a shout out to the JROTC kids who came and helped parked cars during the OneRun on a short notice. Norris – expressed gratitude to Ms. Knox and all the other foundation leaders for the OneRun it was great to see all the families show up. Alonzo- also expressed gratitude for the OneRun. Knox – thanked everyone who joined the OneRun, extended gratitude to the DMPS marketing team. The event raised $51,000 and had 200 registered participants. Ms. Knox also recognized the North High Girls Swim Team as they won the title of Iowa Alliance Conference South Division Champions. The North High Booster Club is holding a dueling piano fundraiser on Saturday November 8th at the Shop DSM. Campos – Thanked East High for inviting her to the Latino Heritage Month event. Martorano expressed gratitude to the community members who have shared their support for DMPS over the last several weeks. Mayberry-Mayes shared he had a great time at the OneRun community event and reminder all that the FAFSA is now open.
Superintendent's Report: Shared a note of gratitude for the public school supporters that continue to show up at the meetings and every day. Also thanked the Iowa Taxpayers Association who came out in support of the Reimagining Education Bond Referendum.
The directors then approved a motion to go into closed session per Iowa Code 21.5.1.a and 21.5.1.e.

Following the closed session, the board went into an exempt session.
After the exempt session the board came back into open session for one additional action item.
1. Motion to expel the student who was the subject of the closed session for a period of 12 months with access to general and special education services as required by the IDEA for the period of expulsion.

Meeting adjourned at 7:42pm. Then the board took a brief break before moving into an open work session to discuss the Board Governance structure and manual.
