The children of Joseph and Janet (Lavin) Ganim happily announce their parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Joe and Jan were married on November 15th, 1975, at St. Maron’s Church in Cleveland, OH. They have been blessed with three children, Melanie Ganim (Jay Oakes) – PA, Anthony Ganim (Laura O’Neill)-Hillard,OH, and Traci Arway (Kevin Arway) - Dublin,OH as well as eight grandchildren -Julia (Dante Demeo), AJ, Kieran, Eli, Lillian, Lydia, Addison.
Joe worked as a mechanic, farmer and Ohio Lottery Regional Sales Manager (retired), and Jan worked as an educator at Dale-Roy School (retired).
Joe and Jan started their life together in Cleveland Ohio before moving their three children to a family farm in mid-Ohio. Not having farmed ever, Joe and Jan took on this huge challenge and worked years to get the family farm back up and running.
During this time, Joe was the first to bring the game of soccer to Mapleton High School and he oversaw certifying and assigning referees for many of Ohio’s soccer tournaments for over a decade.
Jan, a dedicated educator, worked tirelessly at Dale Roy School where she was involved with the Special Olympics, supported and advocated for people with disabilities in the Ashland community for over 15 plus years.
This past August the family gathered celebrating their marriage, their family, and the life they created. The children and grandchildren of Joe and Jan wish for everyone to know how proud they are of them and all they stand for. They are constantly showing through their actions what it means to be a balanced and supportive partner, choosing to do what is right first and not what is easy, and that your family is your best asset!
Thank you for taking the time to congratulate Joe and Jan on their 50 years of marriage!
