Joanne Marie (Schroedl) Woodford
1935-2020
Joanne was born July 31, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the oldest of five children of Bernard and Pearl (Riemer) Schroedl (Bernie, Ardith, (the late) John and Mary Ann). She married the late John G. Woodford in 1958, and was mother to three sons- John B. Woodford (Mary Ellen Testen), the late David G. Woodford (Martie Maloney), and Benjamin T. Woodford (Barbara Woodford); grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of three.
Joanne was a Montessori teacher and served as Village Clerk in Shorewood, Wisconsin for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime volunteer for and planner of Milwaukee Irish Fest. With her husband, she enjoyed and taught Ceilidh Dancing as well as Contra Dancing and sponsored many house concerts. She loved music, movies, reading, travelling, and lemon squares. She shared a particular fondness for lighthouses with her late husband. Her last vacation was a trip to several Lake Michigan lighthouses and Mackinaw Island.
She lived with vascular dementia for several years. Her personality never changed, even as her
illness moved her farther from the ones she loved. The Covid pandemic kept her family from being as close to her as we would have liked during the last several months of her life.
Joanne succumbed to Covid 19 on December 8, 2020 at the Auberge at Oak Village.
We still love you and miss you.
