LEGAL NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING DES. NO. 2002959
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will host a public information meeting on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Plainfield High School LGI Rooms located at One Red Pride Drive, Plainfield, IN 46168. The information meeting will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 8:00 PM. The purpose of the public information meeting is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to review and comment on the project. The public will be afforded the opportunity to provide comments on the information presented at the meeting.
The format of the meeting will be an informal open-house. The open house session will provide the public with an opportunity to view project maps and displays and to interact with the project team.
As proposed, the project includes adding two travel lanes in the median of I-70 from Hazelwood Road to State Road (SR) 267 to create six 12- foot-wide travel lanes (three eastbound (EB) and three westbound (WB)) with 10-foot-wide shoulders. The work also included adding two 12-foot-wide travel lanes on the outside shoulder from SR 267 east to Ronald Reagan Parkway to create eight 12-foot-wide travel lanes (four EB and four WB) with 10-foot-wide shoulders and a 24-foot-wide median. In addition, the project also included replacing and rehabilitating various bridges and culverts along the project corridor. Additionally, the SR 39/I-70 and Quaker Boulevard/I-70 interchanges will require reconfiguration and replacement of the bridges over I-70. The interchange types will be determined during design with the goal of increasing capacity, safety, and limiting right-of-way (ROW) acquisition. The purpose of this project is to improve traffic mobility and vehicular safety due to increasing traffic volumes to at least a level of service (LOS) of B. The need is due to current and future capacity deficiencies and pavement deterioration.
