NOTICE OF 30-DAY PUBLIC COMMENT
Fort Gordon (formerly Fort Eisenhower) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts from the development of a recreational vehicle (RV) and boat storage facility at the Pointes West Army Resort (PWAR) in Columbia County, Georgia. The proposed action would construct a 5.07-acre gated gravel storage lot adjacent to the existing storage at the PWAR. The purpose of the proposed action is to provide Garrison personnel with the opportunity for convenient and safe RV and boat storage. Additional storage would improve access to recreation opportunities and reduce waitlist times by raising the maximum amount of storage space Fort Gordon offers. Based on analysis in the Draft EA, no significant adverse impacts are anticipated to result from the Proposed Action. Fort Gordon invites the public to provide input and comment on the Draft EA and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for this project. During the review period, these documents are available at the Fort Gordon Public Affairs Office, 307 Chamberlain Avenue, Darling Hall (Building 33720), Suite 382, Fort Gordon, GA 30905; Woodworth Library 549 Rice Road (Building 33500), Fort Gordon, GA 30905; the Columbia County Library, 7022 Evans Town Center Boulevard, Evans, GA 30809; and the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library, 823 Telfair Street, Augusta, GA 30901. The Draft EA and Draft FONSI are also available at: https://home.army.mil/gordon/index.php/environmental. Written comments will be received and considered for 30 days after the publication of this notice.
