NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE TOWNSHIP OF CLYDE Please take notice that at a regular meeting of the Township Board of the Township of Clyde, County of St. Clair, State of Michigan, held on November 18, 2025, the following ordinance was adopted: Ordinance No. 67-25 Fresh Water, Lake, Lagoon and Pond Ordinance. SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE: The ordinance amends the Pond Ordinance 67 for the purpose to allow the creation of ponds, lagoons and lakes for private recreational use, while regulating the construction to maintain public welfare and safety. SECTION 2: DEFINITIONS 1.LAGOON: A body of fresh water consisting of up to 5 acres that is adjoining a greater existing body of water that is separated by a natural barrier. 2.LAKE: A body of fresh water consisting of 5 acres or more of surface area. 3.POND: A body of fresh water consisting of less than 5 acres of surface area. SECTION 4. REGULATIONS All ponds, lagoons and lakes shall conform to the following conditions as applied to each type of water body by definition: 4.All ponds, lagoons and lakes to be constructed with slopes no greater than 1' to 4' (vertical to horizontal). All swimming areas shall have slopes no greater than 1' to 6' (vertical to horizontal). 6.Removing soil, gravel, or minerals from a site is considered a quarry operation and subject to Ordinance 12-b. 10.No Lake shall exceed 7 acres in size based on surface area. Effective Date: This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days following publication of this notice.
