NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Chemung County Legislature will conduct a public hearing at the Legislative Chambers, 203 Lake Street, 5th floor, Hazlett Building, Elmira, New York, on the 1st day of December 2025 at 6:45 p.m. pursuant to Article V of the Chemung County Charter on the 2026 Tentative Chemung County Budget, including the Capital Program, Budget Message submitted by the County Executive, Budgets of the Chemung County Sewer District No. 1 and Chemung County/Elmira Sewer District, which budgets shall be for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2026, and the Report of the Legislature on said proposed budget, if any: and PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the County Legislature will also hear any and all comment upon the budgeted expenditures of Chemung County Sewer District No. 1 and the Chemung County Elmira Sewer District to replace obsolete, inadequate, damaged, destroyed or worn-out apparatus and equipment or to acquire additional apparatus and equipment as contained in the Chemung County 2026 Tentative Budget: and PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the 2026 Tentative Chemung County Budget, Capital Program, Budget Message, Sewer District Budgets, and Report of the Legislature, if any, may be inspected by any interested person during business hours at the office of the Clerk of the Legislature, 5th floor, Hazlett Building, 203 Lake Street, Elmira, New York, on and after November 10, 2025, and may be viewed at www.chemungcounty.com: and PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that pursuant to Sections 200 and 359 of County Law, the maximum salary which may be fixed and paid during the next fiscal year to members of the Chemung County Legislature, to the Chairman, the Vice Chairman, the Majority Leader, and the Minority Leader thereof, respectively, are specified as follows: Members of the Chemung County Legislature $18,119.00 Minority Leader, Chemung County Legislature $20,980.00 Majority Leader, Chemung County Legislature $20,980.00 Vice Chairman, Chemung County Legislature $22,616.00 Chairman, Chemung County Legislature $43,484.00 All as more finally determined within published limitations by the County Legislature for fiscal year 2026: and PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the public has a right to provide written and oral comments on the entire budget, and to ask questions concerning the relationship of any revenues to the rest of the budget.
