Notice of Adoption of
Proposed 2026 Tax Ordinance
An ordinance fixing tax rates for 2026 for Honesdale Borough, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, is proposed for enactment by the Honesdale Borough Council on November 24, 2025, with the following tax rates to be adopted for the year 2026: Total Taxes, 7.58 mills which includes the following:
Real Estate, general purposes: the sum of 6.07 mills on each dollar of assessed valuation, or the sum of $0.607 on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation;
Fire: the sum of 0.35 mills on each dollar of assessed valuation, or the sum of $0.035 on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation;
Parks & Recreation: 0.38 mills on each dollar of assessed valuation, or the sum of $0.038 on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation;
Debt Service: 0.46 mills on each dollar of assessed valuation, or the sum of $0.046 on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation;
And Pension & Retirement: 0.32 mill on each dollar of assessed valuation, or the sum of $0.03200 on each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
No changes to the Act 511 taxes of Per Capita, $5.00, Local Services Tax $52.00 per person and Real Estate transfer tax, ½ percent. The above listed taxes are to be adopted at 6 PM on November 24, 2025, at a Council meeting to be conducted at 958 Main Street, Honesdale. A copy of the proposed ordinance in its entirety is available for public inspection at the office of this newspaper, the Wayne County Law Library and Borough Hall, Honesdale.
