Notice of Public Hearing For Michigan Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding For Proposed Housing Rehabilitation Project The City of Morenci will conduct a public hearing on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 6:00 PM at 118 Orchard Street, Morenci, MI 49256 for the purpose of affording citizens an opportunity to examine and submit comments on the proposed application for a CDBG grant. The City of Morenci proposes to apply for CDBG grant funds in the amount of $1,180,000 for the rehabilitation of owner-occupied single-family homes. All activities, upon completion, will benefit low- to moderate-income households. Zero persons will be displaced as a result of the proposed activities. These funds are intended to benefit the residents of Morenci directly, improving the overall condition of housing in the city and ensuring that those in financial hardship are not left behind. Further information, including a copy of the City of Morenci's Master Plan and draft CDBG application, is available for review. Comments may be submitted in writing through September 8, 2025, or made in person at the public hearing. The City of Morenci has a strong record of successfully managing grant funds for water infrastructure, revitalization, housing readiness, community forestry, and road work. The City of Morenci submitted an initial Letter of Intent to apply for the CDBG fund in June 2025. A full application is in development and the submission due date is September 17, 2025.
