Public Notice
In accordance with Chapter 1159 of the Zoning Code of the City of Lancaster, notice is hereby given that the Lancaster Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on May 14, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will take place in the 2nd Floor Conference Room, located at 104 E. Main Street, Lancaster, Ohio.
The purpose of the hearing is to consider proposed amendments to the City of Lancaster Zoning Code, including the following sections:
Sections 1129.01–1129.06 — increase maximum lot coverage allowances by 5%Removal of Section 1143.13 regarding the parking of commercial vehicles in residential districts, as these regulations are now addressed in Lancaster Codified Ordinance Section 339Section 1145.03, Prohibited Signs — addition of subsection (k) prohibiting signs promoting unlawful services or itemsSection 1145.06, Wall Signs — addition of subsection (d) allowing maximum total signage area to be calculated by individual storefront rather than by parcelSection 1145.09, Window Signs — addition of subsection (c) allowing clear areas between portions of window signage to be excluded from total signage area calculationsSection 1147.01, Accessory Dwelling Units — amendment to subsection (c) permitting detached accessory dwelling units within Residential Transitional (RT), Residential Multi-Family (RM), and Mobile Home Community (MHC) Districts upon approval of a Special Exception by the Board of Zoning AppealsSections 1147.08(a), (c), and (g)(1) — amendments preventing exterior lighting from directly illuminating adjacent properties. Addition of Sections 1147.17(a)–(e) establishing safety standards for smoke and vapor shopsSections 1155.09(c) and (d), Violation Procedures and Penalties — amendments allowing the City to shorten violation and correction periods when a dangerous condition exists.
