South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO MODIFY A MINE OPERATING PERMIT American Enterprises Beaufort LLC Ridgecut Mine Hampton County, South Carolina (SCDES Application I-002437) Date: December 4, 2025 American Enterprises Beaufort LLC has applied to SCDES to modify their permit to mine sand and clay at a site located at 123 Ridgecut Road in Hampton County, approximately 2.25 miles southeast of Early Branch, South Carolina (TMS # 187-00-00-118, 187-00-00-119). The operator is proposing to add approximately 9 acres to the permitted acreage. A proposed reclamation plan to restore the site to a pond has been submitted with the application. The mine permit application and related documents are available for review on SCDES's website at https://des.sc.gov/publicnotices SCDES is currently conducting a technical review of the application and related documents and will accept written comments through December 26, 2025. Public comments may impact SCDES's permit decision by giving staff additional information to consider and could also be used when determining specific terms and conditions the company must follow if a permit is issued. Where there is a significant amount of public interest, SCDES may hold a public meeting.
