TOWN OF MORRISTOWN MORRIS COUNTY, NJ 2026 ANNUAL NOTICE NOTICE IS GIVEN that the following resolution was adopted at a reorganization meeting Town Council of the Town of Morristown in the County of Morris and State of New Jersey, held on January 1, 2026 at 12PM. R-1-2025 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ANNUAL SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS PURSUANT TO THE OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT FOR THE 2026 CALENDAR YEAR WHEREAS, N.J.S.A. 10:4-18 of the Open Public Meetings Act provides that within seven (7) days following the annual reorganization meeting of the governing body, or if there be no such reorganization meeting, then, by not later than January 10th, every public body shall establish by resolution a schedule of regular meetings of the governing body to be held during the succeeding year and shall post and maintain posted throughout the year, and mailed to the designated newspaper, and submitted to persons requesting the same, in writing, copies of such schedule of regular meetings; and WHEREAS, said schedule shall contain the location of each meeting to the extent it is known and the time and date of each meeting; and WHEREAS, the Town of Morristown does seek to establish such schedule for the year 2026; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Morristown, County of Morris, and State of New Jersey, that the following meeting dates and other requirements are hereby designated pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act: 1. Regular Public Meetings, commencing at 7:30PM, the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, except in July, August, November and December where one meeting will be held on July 14th, August 18th, November 10th and December 8th. All regular meetings shall be held in-person in the Council Room at 200 South Street, Morristown, NJ. Closed sessions shall be held as necessary from 7:00PM to approximately 7:30PM and the meetings shall be opened to the public at 7:30PM, or immediately following the conclusion of the closed session. 2027 Reorganization shall be held on January 5, 2027 at 7:00PM immediately followed by the first regular meeting in January. 2. Redevelopment meetings of the Town Council will commence at 7:00PM on the second Thursday of each month, except in April, July and August when the meetings will be held on April 16th, July 16th and August 20th. All redevelopment meetings shall be held in-person in the Council Room at 200 South Street, Morristown, NJ. 3. In the event that the above schedule of public meetings is hereafter revised, the Council, within seven (7) days following the revision of same, shall cause notice of such revised meeting dates to be posted, mailed and submitted to the newspaper required by the Open Public Meetings Act. 4. The newspaper circulating in Morris County, the Town's Official Newspaper, is hereby designated as the newspaper for the publishing of legal notices of the Council as required by the Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A 40:53-2: Daily Record 5. A copy of this resolution shall be mailed to the aforementioned newspaper. 6. A copy of advanced notices of special meetings not listed herein shall be mailed to the aforementioned newspapers. 7. A copy of advanced notices of special meetings not listed herein shall be provided in accordance with the requirements of: (a) N.J.S.A. 10:4-8d, including, among other things, the agenda to the extent known for any such special meetings; or (b) N.J.S.A. 10:4-9b, relating to matters of such emergency or importance that delay for the purpose of providing adequate notice would be likely to result in substantial harm to the public interest. It should be noted that meetings held under this subparagraph B of the statute require the affirmative vote of ¾ of the members of the Council present at any such meeting. 8. Any person may request in writing that the Council mail to him or her a copy of the schedule of public meetings of the Council and/or advance written notice of regular, special or rescheduled meetings if the Council upon prepayment by such person of a fee of $15.00 for the year 2026. All requests made pursuant to this paragraph shall terminate on December 31st of the current year, subject to renewal thereafter upon filing of a new written request to the Council, together with the prepayment of the applicable fee for the succeeding year.
