Blasting Notice
Simkol Corporation of Rockwood, PA proposes to conduct overburden blasting in compliance with all State and Federal laws (as written within the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977) at its surface coal mine operation located in Summit Township, Somerset County under Surface Mining Permit # 56210101, Saylor Hill No 2 Operation - Phase II.
Blasting will be conducted between the hours of 8 a.m. to 12 noon, 12 noon to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to sunset, Monday through Saturday, weather permitting.
Warning signals will be placed at every entrance to the operation. The following signals will be sounded: WARNING SIGNAL - Three blasts, each lasting
approximately five seconds at least one minute but no more than two minutes
prior to detonation. After the blaster-in-charge has determined the blast area is
safe, the blaster-in-charge shall sound an ALL CLEAR SIGNAL consisting of one long blast, lasting approximately ten seconds.
This schedule will be adhered to with the exception of emergency situations where weather conditions, personnel safety or public safety requires unscheduled
detonation.
