Cleveland County Water Public Notice of Intent to Apply for Federal Assistance & Notice of Public Meeting
This is a public notice to advise the residents of Cleveland County and customers of Cleveland County Water that Cleveland County Water will be submitting an application to USDA, Rural Development for financial assistance. The purpose of the assistance will be to construct a New 6.0 MGD Water Plant in Southern Cleveland County as well as associated Distribution Improvements from just South of Boiling Springs to the Patterson Springs and Mid Pines communities. The projected timeframe for completion of the project will be by September 2030 at a projected cost of $111,663,000 based on the Preliminary Engineering Report.
It is the desire of Cleveland County Water to secure a loan from USDA, Rural Development to obtain sufficient funds to finance the proposed improvements. Assets acquired by Cleveland County Water may be encumbered to secure any loan obtained.
A public meeting is scheduled for May 12th, 2026, at 6:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners' usual meeting room, located at the Cleveland County Water offices at 715 Polkville Road, Shelby, NC 28150. The public is invited to attend the meeting and comment on the proposed action.
