Johnston City Council Work Session Monday, January 5, 2026 1. Opening of Meeting A. Call to Order – Work Session 26-01 Mayor Dierenfeld called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. B. Roll Call Members present Tom Cope, James Evans, Rhonda Martin, Suresh Reddy, Bryan Burkhardt 2. Work Session Items A. Presentation of Draft Public Art & Culture Plan Economic Development Director Josh Laraby introduced Teva Dawson of Group Creatives who presented a high-level overview of the draft plan, and answered questions from the Council. B. Johnston Chamber of Commerce Budget Request (6:05 PM) Dan Fitzgerald, Past President, presented the budget request for the Johnston Chamber of Commerce, noting that this year's request is $10,000. C. Johnston Community School - Community Education Budget Request (6:15 PM) Community Education Director Scott Kruthoff presented the budget request, noting that per the 28E agreement, this year's request is $86,297, which represents 1/3 of the administrative costs for Community Education. D. Greater Des Moines Partnership Budget Request (6:25 PM) Tiffany Tauscheck, CEO and President of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, presented this year's budget request. E. Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community Budget Request (6:35 PM) Andrea Cook, Executive Director, presented this year's budget request to the Council. F. Review FY 2027 - 2031 Community Investment Program Assistant City Administrator David Wilwerding continued the discussion on the CIP, and answered questions from the Council. 3.
