The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will host the first of two public meetings on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to present preliminary data, the environmental overview, and the proposed purpose and objectives for the KY 1531/Johnson Rd Planning and Environmental Linkage Study (PEL) located in eastern Louisville, KY. During the meeting, public feedback will be gathered and utilized to develop short- and long-term concepts.
The meeting will be an open-house event with no formal presentations and will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Highview Baptist Church – East Campus, located at 15201 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY 40245. Anyone interested in learning more about this project or providing input is encouraged to stop by anytime during the event to review exhibit boards, ask questions, and fill out comment sheets. Representatives from KYTC and the engineering design consultant will be in attendance to answer your questions.
The purpose of this study is to determine the need for potential transportation improvements for KY 1531 (Johnson Rd) from US 60 (Shelbyville Rd) to Aiken Rd in Jefferson County and then develop and evaluate short- and long-term concepts to address those needs. This study includes an analysis of existing conditions along the corridor that will be used to develop improvement concepts that may support safe mobility and connectivity along KY 1531.
An online survey will be available during and remain active for 30 days after this meeting. Over the next 4 months, the concepts development phase will begin after public feedback from this meeting and survey are considered.
All written comments will become part of the official meeting record. Once compiled, the meeting record and supporting documentation will be made available for review and copying only after an Open Records Request has been received and approved. All Open Records Requests must be submitted to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Office of Legal Services, Transportation Office Building (200 Mero St, Frankfort, KY, 40622), or via kytc.openrecords@ky.gov.
