Lexie Kerfoot Boaz, 16, of LaGrange, Kentucky crossed over the rainbow bridge on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
She was adopted to Patricia Fife and her Mommy, Joelle Kerfoot, from the Ohio County Animal Shelter in Hartford, Kentucky on Friday, January 13, 2012. Lexie came home to meet her cat sister, Chloe Kerfoot, and dog sister, Bella Fife, at her new home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was the cutest addition to the family, bringing so much love with her kisses, cuddles, and trick of burrowing under the blankets when you told her to go to bed.
After moving to Louisville, Kentucky in 2013, Lexie enjoyed walks around Central Park, learning how to ride the elevator, taking drives around the city, and wrestling with Chloe.
Her mom’s work brought Lexie to LaGrange, Kentucky in 2014, where she enjoyed sniffing new smells along her walks, learning how to use stairs, and quickly becoming a cute familiar face to those around her. Not long after her move she met her future Momma E, Emma Boaz, and dog siblings, Polka and Carmelita. That was only the beginning of a tremendous life of adventure and love - so much love!
Lexie went everywhere with her mom, from getting to travel to 16 states and internationally to Canada, to running everyday errands around town. She would enjoy a ride on her mom’s lap while riding her bike, sitting with her in the hammock, reading a book in their chair, and enjoying dinosaur and shark movies, especially at Sauerbeck Drive-In. If you saw Joelle, Lexie wasn’t far away, ready to greet you with a sock, some kisses, or a zoomie.
She was excited to take a trip to get and eat McDonald’s nuggets and enjoyed sharing a bite of a Christmas Tree cake. Lexie loved getting her special pets that were affectionally called nee-nees, sometimes even in the form of the nee-nee violin!
Lexie also liked to come home from the groomer, prancing around like she owned the place and showing off her new look for anyone around. She walked many miles around LaGrange with her siblings, her favorite street being Kentucky for her most-stopped sniffing spots and a yard she knew as the jungle.
Of course Lexie had things she wasn’t so fond of, like visiting the dog store, where she got a new baby for every occasion. Bigger dogs made her chihuahua come out - she would get spitting mad! She didn’t enjoy kayaking but found a pontoon boat ride more her style. Visiting Santa every year made her nervous but everyone enjoyed getting to see her cute face on the family Christmas card.
Lexie’s memory will be carried on in the hearts of those she left her little paw prints on, her moms, Joelle and Emma Boaz; cat sister, Kylie Boaz; grandpawrents, Joy and Dan Kerfoot and Ken and Lois Boaz; her Guinea Girls, Millie and Ruby Boaz; extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Chloe Kerfoot Boaz, Carmie Boaz, Polka Boaz, Duncan Boaz, Bella Fife, Grampy Boaz, and Nanny Boaz.
A private celebration of Lexie’s life will represent her favorite things and highlight treasured memories that will forever be held close to our hearts.
Lexie’s mommies would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Rachael Geyer, Dr. Liz Ubehlor, Brittany and Trish Fife, Crestwood Animal Hospital, and our families for their love of Lexie not only in the recent months but her entire life. She was a special little girl loved beyond measure!
