NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF LOCAL LAW

NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF LOCAL LAW PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT on October 2, 2025, the Ontario County Board of Supervisors adopted Local Law No. 5 (Intro.) of 2025 which provides: The intent of this Local Law is to extend the authorized time period in Ontario County to permit 12 and 13 year old individuals to participate in hunting opportunities in accordance with Environmental Conservation Law § 11-0935. The enacted 2021-2022 New York State Budget, included a pilot program, allowing the opportunity for young hunters, ages 12 and 13, to hunt deer with firearms and crossbow through 2023, then extended to 2025, if a county authorizes such action within their municipality. The program has now been extended indefinitely by NYS. This Local Law reflects it will sunset if and when NYS extinguishes the program. A copy of the actual text of this local law is available for inspection at the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors during regular office hours.
