Notice of Chemical Treatment

Notice of Chemical Treatment Brown County, in conjunction with Ducks Unlimited, proposes to chemically treat 22 acres of land in the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve. This treatment will be for the selective control of phragmites (Phragmities australis) and hybrid cattail (Typha spp.) These species overtake native vegetation and provide minimal habitat value. This treatment is designed to improve natural wetland and habitat conditions. This treatment will be performed by KCI Technologies in accordance with WDNR APM permit regulations. To ensure safe and effective management practices, applications are scheduled to take place over the course of one week in September, pending permit approval. A public informational meeting can be requested by local landowners or others with questions regarding this project.
