NOTICE OF FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CAMA MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PERMIT The Department of Environmental Quality hereby gives public notice as required by NCGS 113A-119(b) that the following applications were submitted for a development permit in Areas of Environmental Concern as designated under the CAMA: On December 22, 2025, The City of Southport proposed to construct a berm with sand fill waterward of an existing stone revetment below NHW adjacent to 201 W Bay St & five adjacent parcels w/ beach area to be stabilized with native vegetation; also, three riprap breakwaters are proposed waterward of the new berm location in waterfront area in Downtown Southport along the Cape Fear River, Southport, Brunswick County. Copies of these applications can be examined or copied at the office of Courtney Milliron, N.C. Dept. of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management, 127 Cardinal Drive Ext., Wilmington, NC 28405, (910) 796-7423 during normal business hours. Comments mailed to Tancred Miller, Director, Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557-3421, prior to January 16, 2025 will be considered in making the permit decision. Later comments will be accepted and considered up to the time of permit decision. Project modification may occur based on review and comment by the public and state and federal agencies.
