NOTICE OF FILING OF
APPLICATION FOR CAMA MAJOR
DEVELOPMENT PERMIT
The Department of Environmental Quality hereby gives public notice as required by NCGS 113A-119(b) that the following applications were submitted for a development permit in Areas of Environmental Concern as designated under the CAMA: On May 8, 2026, The Town of Ocean Isle Beach proposed hydraulic excavation of the access channel west of the Ocean Isle Beach causeway to the AIWW, along the east end of Eastern Channel along W Third and W. 4th streets, and within three man-made canals for navigation with proposed spoil disposal to DA 306, adj. to multiple access channels adj. to the AIWW, in Ocean Isle Beach, Brunswick County; And on May 8, 2026, John Jr. and Carey McClure proposed to construct a 3-slip private docking facility up to the USACE Federal Channel Setback and excavation extending into the USACE setback within the AIWW at 4417 Brantley Circle SW, Shallotte, Brunswick County. Copies of these applications can be examined or copied at the office of Tara MacPherson N.C. Dept. of Environmental Quality, Division of Coastal Management, 127 Cardinal Drive Ext., Wilmington, NC 28405, (910) 796-7266 during normal business hours.
Comments mailed to Tancred Miller, Director, Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557-3421, prior to June 4, 2026 will be considered in making the permit decision. Later comments will be accepted and considered up to the time of permit decision. Project modification may occur based on review and comment by the public and state and federal agencies. Notice of the permit decision in these matters will be provided upon written request.
