Notice of Historic Human Remains — Call for Next of Kin
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that human remains believed to be NELSON SAWYER, deceased, interred approximately 1912 in a family cemetery in the Quail Creek area near Sahuarita, Pima County, Arizona, have been identified through archival documentation. Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes §41-865, which governs the discovery and treatment of human remains on private land, the landowner and responsible party are conducting genealogical and historical research to identify lineal descendants and/or lawful next of kin of the deceased. The Arizona State Museum (ASM), University of Arizona, has been notified and is acting in its statutory consultative capacity. If no documented next of kin or lineal descendants come forward within the period specified herein, the ASM shall serve as the determining authority regarding the appropriate disposition of the remains in accordance with A.R.S. §41-865. Any person claiming to be a lineal descendant or next of kin of Nelson Sawyer must come forward in writing within sixty (60) days of the first publication of this notice.
