NOTICE OF PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM
NOTICE OF PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM
At its May 14, 2026, Village Board Meeting, the Village of Woodbury Board of Trustees approved a resolution, which resolution is subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to Article 9 of the Village Law of the State of New York, for a change of term length with the effected terms of office to include the following:
(i) The two trustee positions with terms set to expire on December 31, 2026 will run for election in November 2026 for a term that will expire December 31, 2028. When these two positions run again, the four-year term will begin, thus expiring December 31, 2032; and
(ii) The two trustee positions with terms set to expire on December 31, 2027 will run for election in November 2027 for a term that will expire December 31, 2030. When these two positions then run again, the four-year terms will begin, thus expiring December 31, 2034.
Should the residents of the Village of Woodbury desire to protest the adoption of the resolution authorizing said change of term length, they may do so by petition which shall be: signed by at least twenty (20%) percent of the qualified electors shown on the registration list from the previous general village election; and acknowledged or proved in the same manner as a deed to be recorded or authenticated in the manner provided by election law for authentication of nominating petitions.
Said petition must be filed with the Village Clerk within thirty (30) days of the date of the first publication of this notice.
