NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City of Lewistown, IL will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Lewistown City Hall, 119 S. Adams Street, Lewistown, IL 61542. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide an opportunity for public input regarding proposed replacement of lead service lines.
Members of the public who wish to comment can do so by mailing comments to the City of Lewistown, Attention: City Clerk, 119 S. Adams Street, Lewistown, IL 61542. Comments can also be made directly to IEPA as indicated below.
The City of Lewistown has prepared a detailed Planning Study regarding this project. The proposed financing of the project is through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Public Water Supply Loan Program. The total requested loan amount is approximately $912,124. As a condition of the proposed funding, a Project Summary and Preliminary Environmental Impact Determination (PEID) has been prepared by IEPA. The Planning Study together with the IEPA's PEID documents will be available for inspection at the City of Lewistown, 119 S. Adams Street, Lewistown, IL 61542.
Persons and/or organizations wishing to make a statement on the proposed project will be asked to identify themselves and their respective interest at the Public Hearing. Written comments regarding the subject of the Public Hearing will be accepted until 10 days after the hearing and should be addressed to Rachael Heaton, Project Manager, Infrastructure Financial Assistance Section, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Water, 2520 W. Iles, P.O. Box 19276, Springfield, IL 62794-9276.
