NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TOWNSHIP OF WINSLOW ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WINSLOW, COUNTY OF CAMDEN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 171 OF THE TOWNSHIP CODE, ENTITLED “LICENSED OCCUPATIONS”

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TOWNSHIP OF WINSLOW ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WINSLOW, COUNTY OF CAMDEN, STATE OF NEW JERSEY, AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 171 OF THE TOWNSHIP CODE, ENTITLED "LICENSED OCCUPATIONS" WHEREAS, Chapter 171 of the Code of the Township of Winslow, entitled "Licensed Occupations," sets forth that no person or business entity shall engage in or carry on any business, trade or calling in the Township of Winslow for which a license is required, unless a license as therein provided for shall have been first obtained by said person or business entity; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:52-2, the governing body may fix the fees for all such licenses, which may be imposed for revenue, and may prohibit all unlicensed persons and places and vehicles, businesses and occupations from acting, being used, conducted or carried on; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-1, the governing body is authorized to enact and amend ordinances related to the management, regulation and control of the finances and property of the Township; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-2 a governing body may make, amend, repeal and enforce such other ordinances, regulations, rules and by-laws not contrary to the laws of this state or of the United States, as it may deem necessary and proper for the good government, order and protection of persons and property, and for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare of the Township and its inhabitants; and NOW THEREFORE, be it Ordained by the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Winslow, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, as follows: SECTION 1: Chapter 171 of the Code of the Township of Winslow, entitled "Licensed Occupations," Section 5 entitled "License fees" is hereby amended, revised and/or supplemented adjust the fees for "Hardware Store/Home Improvement wholesale or retail" and "Retail or wholesale (not otherwise classified herein)" to read as follows: § 171-5. License Fees Fee Schedule Business Fee Hardware Store/Home Improvement, wholesale or retail $55.00 Retail or wholesale (not otherwise classified herein) $55.00 SECTION 2: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. SECTION 3: If the provisions of any section, subsection, paragraph, subdivision, or clause of this Ordinance shall be judged invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such order of judgment shall not affect or invalidate the remainder of any section, subsection, paragraph, subdivision, or clause of this Ordinance. SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage and publication in accordance with law. Notice is hereby given that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced and passed upon first reading at a regular meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Winslow on the 23rd day of September, 2025 , at 7:00 P.M., and the same was then ordered published according to law; and the same ordinance will be further considered for final passage during a meeting of the Mayor and Township Committee of the Township of Winslow to be held in the Mayor Dominic Maiese Municipal Complex, 125 S. Route 73, Braddock, New Jersey on October 14, 2025, commencing at 7:00 P.M., prevailing time, or at any time and place to which such meeting from time to time may be adjourned.
