NOTICE THAT COUNTY OF STEUBEN LOCAL LAW NO. NINE FOR THE YEAR 2026 (PRESENTED AS LOCAL LAW TENTATIVELY NO. SIX FOR THE YEAR 2026) IS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PASSAGE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the County of Steuben Local Law No. Nine for the Year 2026, Establishing the Pistol Permit Application Fee, was finally adopted by the County Legislature of the County of Steuben on the 18th day of May 2026, after the holding of a Public Hearing on the 18th day of May, 2026, and is effective upon final adoption. SAID LOCAL LAW IS FULLY SET FORTH AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. LEGISLATIVE INTENT The Legislature recognizes the increased costs of processing an application for pistol permits, balanced with access to the second amendment right to bear arms and obtaining a pistol/revolver license. The Legislature has recognized the need to increase the costs of the application fee to ten dollars ($10.00) amending Local Law No. Four of 1994 which had set the [application fee at Five Dollars ($5.00)]. SECTION 2. SETTING A MODIFIED RATE FOR PISTOL/REVOLVER LICENSE APPLICATIONS The Legislature hereby amends Local Law No. Four of 1994 establishing the rate for pistol/revolver license applications to be collected by the County Clerk at Ten Dollars ($10.00). SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE The within Local Law shall become effective immediately upon passage.
