ORDINANCE 2 OF 2026 AN ORDINANCE TO EXTEND THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON TO INCLUDE CERTAIN TRACTS OF LANDS IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOUISIANA REVISED STATUTE 33:172(A), (B); 33:173 BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Washington in regular session, that: WHEREAS, the Town of Washington, Louisiana has received a petition from the Manager of the ALYCE Corporation requesting that a certain tract of vacant land owned by the Trust and adjacent to the corporate limits of the Town of Washington, Parish of St. Landry, State of Louisiana, be incorporated within the corporate limits of the Town of Washington, which said petition is attached herein as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, a community of interest exists between the territory proposed to be annexed and the Town of Washington Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the territory proposed to be annexed is integrated or is capable of being integrated with the Town of Washington, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the territory to be annexed is not presently a part of any incorporated town or city; and WHEREAS, the said parcel is vacant and has no residents nor any registered voters and therefore meets the annexation requirements under Louisiana Revised Statute 33:172 (A)(c); and WHEREAS notice by publication in the official journal of the Town of Washington has been given of the town's intention to extend its limits; and WHEREAS, more than ten days have elapsed since the date of the publication of the said notice. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Washington, in regular session assembled, that the corporate limits of the Town of Washington be extended to include the following properties attached hereto: PARCEL 1 ALYCE Corporation c/o Steven G. Durio, Manager P.O. Box 130 Washington, LA 70589-0130 Parcel # 0500260905 LEGAL DESCRIPTION That certain tract or parcel of land, together with all buildings and improvements thereon and thereto belonging, situated in St. Landry Parish, Sections 27, 33, and 83, Township 5 South, Range 4 East, and more particularly described as follows: Commencing from the Point of Beginning at an iron rod located at N:768857.219 and E: 3055853.849, thence west on a bearing N870 19'21"W for 562.13ft. to a point, thence northerly on a bearing N020 11'40"E for 34.63ft., to a point, thence westerly on a bearing N860 49'37"W for 436.96ft. to a point, thence northerly on a bearing N860 49'37"W for 9.95ft., to a point, thence westerly on a bearing N890 49'57"W for 85.02 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N450 54'44"E for 123.87 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N360 49'05"E for 149.12 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N470 05'47"E for 246.50 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N420 48'22"E for 231.53 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N480 44'00"E for 151.22 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N530 17'12"E for 175.67 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N550 53'40"E for 117.32 ft. to a point, thence northeasterly on a bearing N690 31'27"E for 143.37 ft. to a point, thence southerly on a bearing S000 05'10"W for 900.40 ft. to a point located at the Point of Beginning, said parcel measuring 12.401 acre as per the Plat of Survey by Morgan Goudeau & Associations, dated April 8, 2021 under Project No. 20656. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the properties annexed will be accepted into the corporate limits of the Town of Washington. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the above annexed property described as Parcel 1 is hereby designated to be included in Council District 3 until changed by a future reapportionment of Council districts as required by applicable Federal and State law BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the entire boundary of the Town of Washington as herein changed shall henceforth be as shown in Exhibit B attached herein.
