Public Notice
Des. No. 2500495
The City of Indianapolis is planning to undertake the Nickel Plate Trail over 82nd Street Pedestrian Bridge Project, funded in part by the Federal Highway Administration. The project is located on 82nd Street, approximately 0.08 miles west of Bash Street in Indianapolis, Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana.
Under the preferred alternative, the proposed project would involve constructing a grade-separated pedestrian bridge over 82nd Street for the Nickel Plate Trail, with approach structures at each end. The pedestrian bridge would have a 14-foot clear roadway width and a vertical clearance minimum over 82nd Street of 17'-6". The proposed alignment will be east of the abandoned Nickel Plate Railroad tracks. The project will require approximately 0.75 acres of permanent right-of-way and one property relocation in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of the railroad tracks and 82nd Street.
The proposed action does not impact properties listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), on behalf of the FHWA, has issued a "No Historic Properties Affected" finding for the project due to the fact that no historic properties are present within the Area of Potential Effects (APE). In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act, the views of the public are being sought regarding the effect of the proposed project on the historic elements as per 36 CFR 800.2(d), 800.3(e) and 800.6(a)(4). Pursuant to 36 CFR 800.4(d)(1), the documentation specified in 36 CFR 800. 11(d) is available for inspection in Metric Environmental, LLC. Additionally, this documentation can be viewed electronically by accessing INDOT's Section 106 document posting website IN SCOPE at http://erms12c.indot.in.gov/Section106Documents.
